"The Perfect Escape" is, arguably, the most succinct and accurate description of what most people are looking forward to - in regard to their upcoming annual vacation. This term, quite likely, is also a very good description of what many individuals, in many different circumstances, have at the top of their wish list.
From the condemned murderer, waiting on death row, to the individual, stuck in a boring job or a boring marriage, "The Perfect Escape" is likely to be uppermost in his or her mind. By extension, many individuals make decisions and choose courses of action based on the conviction that these decisions and choices provide "The Perfect Escape" from whatever is most troubling to them.
From the outside looking in, many of these decisions and choices may seem strange, mystifying and in many cases horrifying. An obvious example (in our time) is the Islamic suicide bomber. Joining the ranks of the Muslim extremists, no doubt, in the individual's mind, provides "The Perfect Escape" from unpleasant circumstances - be they poverty, hopelessness, loneliness, fear, anger or simply boredom.
Actually carrying out the suicide mission also, presumably, in the individual's mind, provides "The perfect (and ultimate) Escape" from whatever bugs them. Certainly in the case of the male suicide bomber, replacing a shoet life of hardship, pain, and sexual deprivation with an eternity in the garden of Eden (complete with 72 virgins) must indeed appear to be "The Perfect Escape".
Human history sometimes seems to be an endless procession of similar horrors and atrocities that have been committed, in the pursuit of the indivual's and our entire species' (apparently innate) desire for "The Perfect Escape" - from what is often perceived as insignificant, trivial, meanigless and painful existence.
